Gundersen Health System is seeking a part-time (18.5 hours/week) Activities Aide for our Tweeten- Spring Grove location! This is your opportunity to provide care to residents while doing the work you love and having FUN!

What Does An Activity Aide Do

• As an Activity Aide your main responsibility is to get residents to and from activities, lead activities, also document who came to activities.
• Visit with residents on a 1:1 basis
  
  
  

What Will This Position Look Like

• We are looking for someone who can work the following schedule:
• Every other Monday 9:30 am - 4:30 pm
• Thursdays, hours vary.
• Friday 9:30 am - 4:30 pm
• Every other Saturday 10 am – 4 pm
• Thursday’s will switch on and off.
• Must be flexible to pick up shifts as needed

Job Description

To assist the Activity Director in executing the ongoing activity program designed to meet the interests and the physical, mental and psychosocial needs of each resident.

Major Responsibilities

• Leads or assists with group activities, as directed.
• Visits with residents on a one-to-one basis to provide a friendly visitor; sensory stimulation; validation; individual instruction on specific leisure pursuits; a means of meeting individual needs as outlined in each resident's activity assessment and care plan, etc.
• Responsible for maintaining a written record of resident's participation and response and/or progress to specific approaches utilized during one-to-one visits.
• Recognizes abnormal signs/symptoms in residents, which signify a physical change of condition and alerts nursing for assistance.
• Assist residents by helping pass meal trays, snacks, water, etc.
• Assists residents with transportation to/from general activities, to/from the dining room, or their room, as requested.
• Assists with tracking an on-going inventory of departmental supplies and equipment maintenance needs.
• Is constantly on alert for conditions that may interfere with the safety/well-being of residents; immediately report hazardous conditions to supervisor and/or charge nurse.
• Abides by the established policies/procedures of the facility, licensing agencies, as well as, local/state/federal regulatory bodies.
• Adheres to regular and predictable attendance.
• Personally interacts, engages with and cares for patients.
• Ensures patient safety.
• Other duties as assigned.
  
  
  

Education and Learning

Required

High school graduate or have a GED.

Work Experience

DESIRED

Experience in geriatric care

Knowledge in music and arts/crafts

License and Certification
