SUMMARY
To assist the management team with communication, supervision and administration of corporate policies at the shop floor level.
Duties and Responsibilities
The following duties are typical for this role. Other duties may be assigned to address business needs and changing business practices.
* Direct all employees who are assigned to them to perform all work within assigned area
* Interpret company policies to assigned workers and enforce safety regulations
* Interpret specifications, blueprints, and job orders to workers and assign duties accordingly
* Establish and/or adjust work procedures to meet production schedules, using knowledge of capacities of machines and equipment
* Recommend measures to improve production methods, equipment performance and quality of product, and suggest changes accordingly
* Communicate expectations to employees as to make certain they understand responsibilities
* Analyze and resolve work problems or assist workers in resolving problems
* Initiate or suggest plans to motivate workers to achieve work goals
* Communicate deficiencies (i.e. areas needing attention) for correction
* Conduct performance evaluations and make recommendations for merit increases and promotions
* Accurate and timely reporting of hours worked for each employee he/she has responsibility for; hours charged appropriately to the various jobs
* Administer disciplinary actions consistently by monitoring safety performance, attendance, quality of work and productivity
* Monitor workmanship and the quality program making certain that products are manufactured in accordance with applicable company, customer and regulatory requirements
* Review the Gunderson QA manual, on an annual basis
* Fall Protection Training and Confined Space Training
QUALIFICATIONS
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
The following generally describes requirements to enter the job and/or be learned within a short period to successfully perform the assigned duties.
* Basic computer skills
* Must possess conversational English-speaking ability
* Strong written and oral communication skills
* Extensive knowledge of blueprint reading and ABS requirements
* Safety-oriented
* Demonstrated ability to use good judgment
* Strong leadership skills
Experience and Education
* Three years of progressive experience within department
License or Certificate
*Certifications applicable to assigned area (i.e. Welding Supervisor Certification)
Working Conditions
* Work overtime as required (varies, may require some weekend days)
* Workaround traffic and heavy manufacturing equipment
* Work at heights on scaffolding and ladders, in dim-lit areas, on slippery or uneven surfaces
* Exposure to heat, cold, noise, grease, smoke, fumes, gases, toxic chemicals, and inclement weather conditions.
* Work in confined space, move through manway and tank openings
* Occasionally lift/carry 11-50 lbs and push/pull a maximum of 50 lbs
Safety Equipment Required
* Hardhat
* Eye protection
* Hearing protection
* Steel Toed Shoes
* Other PPE may be required per assigned area
