As a Front Desk / Guest Services Associate at Gunflint Lodge & Outfitters, you will serve as a friendly resource for welcome and engagement with all guests, both in-house and those planning a visit to Gunflint. You will provide outstanding guest service to lodge guests and help future guests arrange life-changing stays.
We are looking for enthusiastic individuals who enjoy wilderness adventure and who love the outdoors – and can share their enthusiasm with guests. In this role, you will answer guest questions, provide basic orientation to Gunflint Lodge, manage scheduling & point of sale, and serve as a critical point of contact between guests and other Gunflint staff members.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES
- Interact frequently with guests to provide high-quality experiences.
- Take guest reservations for rooms and all amenities & activities via telephone, e-mail, and in person to maximize revenue and guest experience.
- Respond to guest needs and anticipate those not yet raised.
- Inform guests of activities available at the resort and elsewhere along Gunflint Trail.
- Use computer to check guests in and out and take payment for rooms and gift shop purchases.
- Oversee guest departure process, ensuring accounts are properly charged, correct statements are provided, and ensuring guest satisfaction while encouraging future visits.
- Conduct opening and closing processes for the Lodge front desk.
- Respond to guest concerns and complaints in a professional manner.
- Respond to letters, e-mails, and phone call inquiries regarding reservations, rates, services, and visit planning.
- Receive daily USPS shipments and sort to staff mailboxes.
- Use two-way radio to communicate with Housekeeping and Maintenance to verify that guest rooms are ready and to coordinate addressing guest requests.
- Use two-way radio to communicate with Recreation/Activities staff to ensure timely guest care and engagement.
- Manage merchandising and sales for gift shop areas.
- Dust, vacuum, sweep, and otherwise ensure cleanliness & tidiness of the front desk, lobby, and gift shop areas.
OCCASIONAL DUTIES
- Restock, price, and arrange gift shop displays, including regularly stocking beverage cooler and folding & stocking clothing for purchase.
- Other duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Positive, guest-focused attitude
- Organized, extreme attention to detail
- Ability to work calmly and effectively under pressure, especially with guests and other staff members
- Strong communication skills
- Work well independently and as part of a team

WAGE RANGE: $15-17 per hour
