Job Description: Executive Director
Position Summary: The Executive Director acts as the managing director of the
organization and is responsible for the overall direction of the organization in accordance
with its vision and mission. This includes chamber programs, finances, resource
development, human resources, member services, communications and board
development. The Executive Director works under the general guidance of the Board of
Directors.
Supervision: The Executive Director oversees all chamber/visitor center employees.
Essential Functions:
- Support and advocate for local businesses through a wide range of tasks including
membership management, event planning, marketing and communications,
government relations, and community engagement.
- Oversee all aspects of the Chambers operations including strategic planning,
yearly work planning, staff management, financial oversight, fundraising, and
record keeping.
- Maintain and develop community events to bring people into the valley as an
economic driver.
- Develop a “toolbox” for Gunnison businesses to project visitors in the Valley by
working with TAPP and/or utilizing their data.
- Act as a liaison between businesses and municipalities, and county
- The Executive Director will keep the Board informed on opportunities, issues and
challenges as they might arise so the Board may carry out its responsibilities of
governance, financial oversight, and leadership.
- Maintain financial stability of the Chamber and perform proper accounting
practices, including an annual budget, monthly financial information, membership
dues, and oversee the bookkeeping duties.
- Coordinate all board meetings and communications.
- Meet with and maintain positive communications with all members, recruit new
members.
- Work with the Board to create appropriate membership levels, sponsorship
opportunities, and membership benefits.
- Assist existing businesses with growth opportunities, education, & mentoring.
- Represent the chamber at various community events, meetings, and special
appearances in accordance with chamber protocols.
- Maintain a vibrant and informative website and social media presence.
- Administration of public relations through press releases and maintaining and
developing positive relationships with the press and media.
- Work with regional and state associations and leadership groups as appropriate.
- Maintain sensitive and confidential information.
Preferred Skills:
- Chamber, non-profit or association-related experience.
- Ability to work autonomously.
- Special-event production, planning, budgeting, and marketing experience.
- Leadership experience and office management in a team environment.
- Possess skills in attracting and leading staff, volunteers, and board in performance based
organizations.
- Experience writing grant applications.
- Experience in negotiations and interaction with government and group entities.
- Experience in budgeting, P&L management. QuickBooks experience preferred.
- Experience in CRM systems preferred.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $57,000.00 - $62,000.00 per year
