Job Summary

• Performs semi-skilled, skilled, and administrative work in maintaining the vehicles, medium duty and heavy-duty equipment of the Road & Bridge Department, Landfill, Recycling Center, Airport, Gunnison Valley Health, Sheriff's Department, Fairgrounds, Facilities & Maintenance, and other County administration vehicles.
• Maintains equipment records on a daily basis which track work done on the equipment, parts used, cost of labor, and when routine services are due.
• Places the appropriate code on daily time sheets and posts the labor, equipment, and materials used to the specific job, thus providing the information for job cost reports.
• Schedules equipment and vehicles into the shop for repair and/or maintenance.

Pay Rate

The hourly range is from $34.81 to $39.63, depending on experience, plus full benefits.

Anticipated Job Posting Close Date

Open until filled.

• Must possess a valid Colorado driver’s license.
• Must complete ICS 100, ICS 200 and ICS 700 within the first year of employment.
• Valid Class A CDL with tanker endorsement.
• Current flagging certification.
• Willingness to participate in and complete certification for MSHA Part 46.
• Willingness to take and successfully complete a First Aid class, CPR class, and other specialized or safety training that may be offered by the Public Works Department or other training facility.
• Willingness to take additional training, etc. to improve job skills.

Qualifications/Education

• Graduation from high school or GED equivalent plus some specialized technician training in light duty vehicle repair technicians, maintenance management, or a closely related field.
• Five (5) years’ experience as a Technician, or
• Three (3) to Five (5) years of shop leadership preferred,
• Any equivalent combination of education and experience that demonstrates the ability to do the job.
