Business Development Manager Summary:
Our innovative Vegetation Management Company is looking for a motivated and results-oriented Business Development Manager to lead revenue growth and broaden our market reach. In this role, you will strategically engage with Investor-Owned Utilities (IOUs), Co-ops, Municipalities, Departments of Transportation (DOT), Rail, and Oil & Gas Pipeline companies. Your ability to build strong relationships and leverage industry knowledge will be crucial in securing new business, strengthening existing partnerships, and driving long-term growth. You will represent multiple trusted brands, including Distinctive, Birchcrest, Townsend, and NG Gilbert. Relocation is not required; candidates can be based anywhere within the Northeast region.
Duties/ Responsibilities
Sales and Customer Engagement
- Develop and strengthen relationships with existing clients while proactively identifying and engaging new prospects.
- Conduct thorough needs assessments to align our services with customer-specific requirements.
- Maintain accurate and consistent sales activity tracking in Salesforce, ensuring all opportunities, interactions, and documentation are up to date.
Sales Support and Coordination
- Participate in weekly sales calls led by the CCO, providing progress updates, addressing challenges, and identifying new opportunities.
- Represent the company in Pre-Bid Meetings, gathering insights to enhance proposals and strengthen customer relationships.
Cross-Functional Collaboration
- Collaborate with Operations and Finance teams to coordinate the Phase Gate process for new projects, ensuring smooth execution and alignment with customer expectations.
- Attend regional Weekly RAIL calls to stay current on industry trends and explore potential business leads.
Storm Revenue Coordination
- Monitor storm patterns and collaborate with customers and operations teams to identify and capitalize on storm-related revenue opportunities.
- Effectively allocate company resources to meet storm-related demands and ensure timely, high-quality customer support.
Market Insights and Strategic Planning
- Stay informed on market trends, competitor activities, and emerging best practices to identify new growth areas.
- Contribute valuable insights to the Annual Operating Plan (AOP), providing data-driven recommendations to support strategic goals.
Trade Shows and Networking
- Represent the company at industry trade shows and events, promoting our services, building relationships, and identifying potential partnerships.
Qualifications
- 5-7 years of proven success in business development, sales, or account management within Vegetation Management or a related industry.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to connect with a diverse range of stakeholders.
- Detail-oriented with excellent organizational skills for managing sales data and Salesforce records.
- In-depth knowledge of vegetation management practices, industry regulations, and customer sectors, including IOUs, Co-ops, Municipalities, DOT, Rail, and Oil & Gas Pipeline companies.
- Adaptable and resilient, thriving in a fast-paced, evolving environment.
- Demonstrated ability to meet or exceed sales targets and drive revenue growth.
- Proficiency in MS Office Suite, Salesforce, and other relevant business tools.
