As a Construction Estimator, your primary responsibilities include accurate project cost estimation, thorough bid preparation, and effective planning to ensure the successful execution of construction projects. This role emphasizes precision, communication, and compliance with company and industry standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop a thorough knowledge of project plans, budgets, and specification
- Familiarize yourself with cost codes, budget assumptions, and project objectives.
- Review documents and assess site conditions alongside the COO and PM teams
- Identify and address contract risks, compliance issues, and scope changes
- Utilize Bid2Win software to create accurate cost estimates
- Incorporate historical data and detailed takeoffs for labor, materials, and equipment.
- Collect and evaluate subcontractor and supplier quotes, ensuring competitive pricing.
- Align subcontractor scope with project requirements.
- Finalize bid packets at least two days before submission for accuracy and thoroughness.
- Address challenges proactively with management
- Participate in Estimator/PM hand-off meetings to coordinate crew structure, equipment, and production goals
- Maintain proactive communication with subcontractors, owners, and internal teams to resolve issues and clarify project needs.
- Provide layout support as needed and ensure compliance with project specifications.
- Monitor production and budget adherence, discussing variances with the Superintendent and OM
- Promote a safe work environment and address unsafe actions immediately.
- Ensure all work meets Gunter Construction’s quality and safety standards.

Qualifications
- Proven experience in construction estimating and cost control
- Strong knowledge of construction processes and pricing strategies
- Proficiency in using B2W, Pro Core
- Excellent negotiation skills and ability to manage contracts
- Familiarity with construction site operations and project management principles
- Background in budgeting and financial oversight within construction projects
