Job Summary:
The Gift Shop Manager oversees the daily operations of the resort's boutique retail store, which features a curated selection of Gurney’s-branded merchandise and luxury third-party brands. This position is responsible for driving sales, managing inventory, leading the retail team, and ensuring an exceptional guest shopping experience in line with Gurney’s brand standards.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead all retail operations, including staffing, merchandising, and visual presentation.
- Select and maintain a well-curated assortment of resort wear, accessories, wellness products, and exclusive Gurney’s merchandise.
- Develop and maintain relationships with premium vendors and brand partners.
- Train, schedule, and manage retail associates, providing clear sales goals and coaching to achieve them.
- Oversee all aspects of inventory control, ordering, and loss prevention.
- Analyze sales trends and guest feedback to inform purchasing and pricing decisions.
- Ensure all displays are visually appealing and updated regularly to reflect seasonal and promotional changes.
- Maintain accurate financial records and provide regular sales reporting to leadership.
- Collaborate with the marketing team on promotions, events, and cross-departmental initiatives.
- Provide outstanding guest service, resolving any issues or concerns promptly and professionally.
Qualifications:
- 3 years of retail management experience, preferably in a luxury or resort environment.
- Strong knowledge of merchandising, buying, and inventory systems.
- Experience with point-of-sale systems; Micros knowledge a plus.
- Excellent leadership, communication, and guest service skills.
- Highly organized, detail-oriented, and capable of multitasking in a dynamic environment.
- Passion for hospitality, fashion, and delivering memorable guest experiences.
Physical Requirements:
- Must be able to stand and walk for extended periods of time, including during entire shifts.
- Ability to lift, carry, and move merchandise and boxes up to 30 lbs.
- Frequent bending, reaching, and repetitive hand motions required to stock shelves and manage displays.
- Must be able to navigate a multi-level retail space, including stairs if applicable.
- Comfortable working in a fast-paced environment with varying levels of foot traffic.
Schedule & Compensation:
- Full-time, seasonal position.
- Must be available to work weekends, and holidays
- Salary range: $70,000–$75,000 annually commission
