Gurwin Healthcare System is a full continuum of care providing extraordinary care and caring to the people that we serve. Set on a 36-acre campus in Commack, NY, the Gurwin Healthcare System includes the 460-bed Gurwin Jewish Nursing & Rehabilitation Center, providing short-term rehabilitation and long-term skilled nursing care, memory care, respiratory and ventilator care, palliative and hospice care, social and medical adult day programs and on-site dialysis. Sharing the campus is Gurwin’s Assisted Living community (Gurwin Jewish : Fay J. Lindner Residences), the independent living community (Fountaingate Gardens) and our Licensed and Certified Home Care Agencies. Also, part of the Gurwin family is Island Nursing and Rehab Center, a 120-bed facility located in Holtsville, New York.

Responsibilities:
- Work closely with the Chief People Officer in preparing correspondence, generating reports, conducting research, answering phones, assisting with scheduling appointments/meetings.
- Develop content for the internal employee communication platform, BLINK. Maintain daily calendar to ensure content is ready for posting. Keep communication relevant and current. Generate weekly report to ensure new hires are added and terminated employees removed.
- Arrange hospitality, room reservation and provide support for all HR related employee engagement events. This includes but is not limited to the monthly new hire orientation, Winter Celebration, Employee Appreciation Day, Nursing Home Week, Annual BBQ, Fall / Winter Festivals, Thanksgiving gift card distribution, and on-going training sessions.
- Generate the monthly birthday report, phone listing, and Weekly Nursing Home (HERDS) report. Review Customer Service Award nominations and identify monthly recipient. Assist with logging and tracking annual performance reviews and employee training.
- Maintain and update employment and status-change data within various HRIS systems. Compile and maintain accurate employee documentation and records for compliance, including trainings attended.
- Prepare required on-boarding documents, coordinate with Employee Health and meet with new employees. Generate ID badges and track those that are lost / damaged.
- Open Department mail, date stamp and distribute accordingly. This includes reading and responding to general requests as well as employment verifications when appropriate.
- Provide excellent customer service to all who reach out to Human Resources seeking assistance. Interact clearly with employees at all levels, both verbally and in writing.
- Maintain the highest level of integrity and confidentiality handling all HR matters.
- Associates's degree required, Bachelor's degree in HR, Business Administration, or related field preferred
- 2-3 years of related experience working in HR or administrative support
- Ability to manage multiple tasks efficiently and prioritize effectively
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint)
- Experience with HR software preferred; familiarity with Ulti Pro / UKG a plus
