About the Role
We are seeking an experienced Lead Architect to oversee and manage architectural design, project administration, and strategic planning within our client’s growing portfolio. This role requires a balance of creative vision, technical expertise, and leadership in managing design processes and business-related functions within the design department.
Key Responsibilities
Design & Project Development
- Lead conceptual and schematic design efforts, either directly or by collaborating with external architectural partners.
- Oversee and secure services for bidding and construction drawings, including contract negotiation, vendor selection, and project supervision.
- Facilitate design competitions and proposals to attract top-tier architectural and engineering talent.
- Manage tenant finish processes, providing architectural support for office, retail, restaurant, hotel, and other commercial projects.
Project Administration & Execution
- Supervise third-party workflow, code compliance, and approval processes.
- Recruit, hire, and manage design staff based on business needs and approved budgets.
- Oversee cost management, approve payments, and ensure adherence to schedules.
- Lead construction administration, ensuring quality control and timely project completion.
- Conduct value engineering assessments and collaborate on cost-effective design solutions.
- Stay up to date on building codes, materials, and system selections to maintain high standards in development.
Leadership & Business Development
- Act as a key team member in business development efforts, contributing to client and tenant engagement.
- Represent the firm in meetings with clients, tenants, and ownership, ensuring alignment with project goals.
- Play a strategic role in company-wide growth initiatives, bringing innovative ideas and solutions to the table.
Qualifications & Requirements
10 years of experience in architectural design, project administration, and construction oversight.
Bachelor’s degree in Architecture or Architecture & Engineering.
Registered Architect with an active license.
NCARB certification required.
Strong knowledge of building codes, construction practices, and compliance standards.
Excellent communication, leadership, and project management skills.
