Gustavus Adolphus College seeks a talented Senior Manager, Brand Events and Experience to join our team full time. The successful candidate will lead and manage Signature Events both on and off campus, helping elevate Gustavus’ brand. This position is key to furthering the College’s marketing and communication objectives, including student enrollment, engaging Alumni and donors, and amplifying the energy across campus.
Employment Status: Full-time (1.0 FTE), Exempt (Salaried), and Benefits-Eligible
Salary Range: $55,000-$75,000
JOB SUMMARY: This position is a key part of the Marketing & Communications team, helping strengthen Gustavus’ brand awareness throughout our community. In this role, you will oversee the planning, management, logistics and brand integration into Signature Events (Nobel Conference, Christmas in Christ Chapel, and Commencement) on campus and the Gustie brand experience on and off campus. This role is for an incredibly detail-oriented, organized events professional who is committed to creating dynamic experiences that showcase the true essence and culture of what being part of the Gustie community is all about — all while aligning the look and feel with our brand style guide. In this role, you will work strategically to produce events that demonstrate Gustavus’ core values, all while building engagement and generating excitement with our core audiences. This is your chance to demonstrate what it means to be a Gustie on a daily basis.

Main Responsibilities
- Contribute to a growing, high-performing team while promoting a strong culture of collaboration, excellence and accountability.
- Plan, build, and execute signature events (Nobel Conference, Christmas in Christ Chapel, and Commencement) that help Gustavus connect with our key audiences, including prospective and current students, families, staff, alumni, sponsors, partners, athletics and more.
- Use creativity to think outside the box and build experiences that bring people together in a thoughtful, intentional and educational way.
- Design all programming for events, including speakers and subject matter experts, working closely with the communications team to plan out topics and key messaging.
- Deliver logistics for guests participating in panel, presentations, and events, including arrival and departure information as well as important information pertaining to the appearance.
- Communicate audio and video needs to the implementation team, working closely with the team on internal productions and with external A/V partners.
- Build Gustavus look and feel into all elements of events working with the marketing and creative design team.
- Manage all external venue, vendor and contractor relationships related to events.
- Work closely with the Marketing & Communications team to prepare pre- and post-communications regarding events, including graphics, invitations, web content, social media, advertising, etc.
- Build signage plans and work directly with the design team and printing vendors for creation.
- Work directly with college and departmental leadership to partner on events and programs.
- Lead the management and training of event staff, including part-time and student support.
- Manage all student employees in the department to include training, scheduling, performance, and oversight.
- Develop Gustavus service program in coordination with the Chief Marketing Officer - build out, develop, train, and rollout program campus wide.
- Other duties as assigned.
Skills & Qualifications
- Education/Training: Degree in event management or related field.
- Experience: A minimum of 5 years of paid events experience, industry experience a plus.
- Software Proficiency: Proficiency in Google Suite apps and/or MS Office, Word, PowerPoint and Excel.
- Events Experience: Professional experience designing and implementing both in-person and virtual events.
- Business Mindset: Understanding of how creative content is used and conveyed through key messaging and executive counsel, with an emphasis on brand and messaging.
- Independence: Ability to work independently, take initiative, and manage projects from start to finish.
- Creative and Detail-Oriented: A creative mindset with a keen eye for detail.
- Communication and Collaboration: Excellent communication skills and the ability to collaborate effectively with colleagues, students, and partners.
- Time Management: Ability to work under tight deadlines, manage multiple projects, and prioritize effectively in a fast-paced environment.
