The Market Development Manager (MDM) will work closely with the Director of Sales to identify sales opportunities throughout the North East to achieve sales goals. Most of the communication with prospective clients will be done by traveling throughout the market and requires travel for several days at a time. The territory includes Pennsylvania, Massachusetts, New York, New Jersey, Connecticut, Vermont, Delaware, Maine, Rhode Island and New Hampshire.
Essential Functions:
- Develop and nurture strong customer contacts and positive, proactive relationships with wholesale managers and representatives ensuring open streams of communication.
- Identify and develop solutions to prospective clients’ needs/problems and communicate those solutions to a wide array of influencers and decision makers.
- Develop and implement action plans that increase the company’s product presence, either face-to-face or phone contact with venue managers & regional sales representatives to ensure adequate stock is on-hand to meet anticipated sales.
- Monitor sales data continuously. Communicate with marketing department trends and issues pertaining to sales/marketing initiatives.
- Responsible for forecasting sales with reasonable accuracy each month.
- Work closely with Sales Operations, Inside Sales, and Contractor Development Reps to ensure superior support for our wholesale and contractor communities.
- Use various software packages, including HubSpot, Power BI, Microsoft Outlook, MS Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
- Meet or exceed sales activity metrics as defined by management in this job description.
- May perform other duties as assigned.
Required Experience:
- 5 years of outside sales experience or senior level account management.
- Experience as a manufacturer’s rep or in the building supplies industry.
- Superb relationship builder, negotiator and communicator.
- Must have a valid driver’s license.
- High standards of integrity and ethical conduct.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team that is located in various locations throughout the US.
- Resides in the Greater Boston area.
Education:
Bachelor’s degree preferred.
Salary : $70,000 - $75,000
