Small law firm located in Salem, VA seeks experienced Litigation Paralegal to support attorneys in all aspects of their litigation cases. We specialize in local government law and represent public clients on a range of civil defense litigation matters in state and federal trial courts.
This role requires excellent organizational and communication skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work independently. The ideal candidate will be a hardworking, dependable team player who is proficient in Microsoft Office and with document management software. Prior experience with civil litigation work is preferred.
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
- Analyze case issues and determine discovery materials needed
- Prepare and assist with legal documents including discovery requests, discovery responses, subpoenas, exhibit and witness lists
- Manage and organize electronic documents for production and review
- Assist in the preparation for depositions, hearings, trials, and other legal proceedings
- Assist with expert witnesses, review deposition testimony, and organize exhibits and witness materials
- Communicate with all parties involved, including clients, witnesses, experts, opposing counsel, and court personnel
- Assist attorneys during trial by managing documents, handling exhibits and providing other support as needed
- Assist with e-filing as needed
- Assist in tracking court deadlines, filing requirements, and other aspects of case management
