Position Summary

The Senior Communications Specialist position in the Department of Emergency Medicine’s Innovative Practice Section will maintain oversight of day-to-day operations of specific programs and provide support to the Program Supervisor with coordination of functions of the Innovative Practice Programs including, but not limited to, operational support, event staffing, supplies/logistics coordination, medical repatriation and communication within the Innovative Practice.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Other duties may be assigned.

  • Nationally certified EMT with current CPR for healthcare providers (AHA, ASHE)
  • Oversee client communications and completion of contractual requirements for telemedical programs 
  • Maintain a thorough understanding of standard operating procedures in order to work through questions/issues that are escalated by clients and/or Communications Specialists
  • Work toward solutions to client issues in a timely and appropriate manner
  • Facilitate telemedical interactions between patients/clients and medical providers
  • Document and accurately scribe medical communications
  • Prioritize job duties while utilizing excellent customer service skills and a positive attitude.
  • Technical competence in computers and typing
  • Confident in medical terminology

Minimum Qualifications

Education

  • Current and valid NREMT or a higher EMS certification

Experience

  • A minimum of 1 year of specialized and/or advanced administrative, technical, and project management experience.

Physical Requirements

  • Walk, stand, and reach outward on a constant basis in an office setting.
  • Must be able to occasionally lift, carry, push, or pull over 100 lbs. as part of the role.
  • Regularly exposed to healthcare settings that may require personal protective equipment.
  • Requires manual dexterity to operate a computer keyboard, calculator, copier machine, and other equipment.
