Position Summary
The Department of Emergency Medicine, Innovative Practice maintains a 24 / 7 / 365 telemedicine and communications center. The purpose of this center is to coordinate and document care via telemedicine and facilitate the concierge and event medicine practice. Most calls are inbound from ships, aircraft, and remote sites / bases around the globe. In addition, the communications center serves as a single point of contact for our event and concierge medical practices.
We are currently seeking an Operations Specialist-EMT for all shifts. Night shift receives a differential on top of advertised pay band. The primary purpose of this position is to staff the communications center, however, this position can also be used to staff events for medical standby coverage.
As an Operations Specialist-EMT you will need to :
- Facilitate telemedical interactions between patients / clients and medical providers
- Document and accurately scribe medical communications
- Follow up with patients / clients as needed
- Work toward solutions to client issues in a timely and appropriate manner
- Prioritize job duties while utilizing excellent customer service skills and a positive attitude.
- Be a nationally certified EMT with current CPR for healthcare providers (AHA, ASHE)
- Be deft at computers and typing
- Performs intake of initial demographic data
- Be confident in their medical terminology
- Work within standard operating procedures and follow defined algorithms
- Believe in customer service
- Must have excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Cooperates and communicates well with others
- Assist in program maintenance activities
- Demonstrate good judgment and good critical thinking skills
- Other duties as assigned
Complexity and Judgment
Work consists of a number of complex and diversified duties. The Operations Specialist-EMT makes decisions while following standard policy / procedures. A supervisor is consulted in unusual situations and / or where there is an exception to policy and standard procedure. The Communications Specialist / EMT will have contact / interaction with personnel in other departments, personnel in other departments and individuals and groups from outside the MFA.
