Position Specific Summary

Participation in regular training sessions is mandatory. Tutors must attend the bi-monthly training sessions or arrange an approved make-up training time with the Program Manager. Participation in one Saturday a month of training is also mandatory.

Tutor tasks include :

  • Participating in training sessions.
  • Tutoring for at least 90 minutes each week.
  • Preparing tutoring lessons and activities tailored to subjects ranging from Geometry and Algebra to AP Calculus and AP Statistics.

Standard Position Description

  • The student will provide tutoring services for high school math students.
  • Tasks may include : math skills in small groups or one-on-one.
  • Special projects or other duties may be assigned related to specific departmental needs.

    Required Qualifications

    This is an entry level position, little to no experience required, all training will be provided (Students working in an instructional capacity should be very familiar with the subject area in which they are working).

    Preferred Qualifications

  • Must be knowledgeable in high school-level mathematics, including Geometry, Algebra, AP Calculus, and AP Statistics.
  • Must have completed college-level math courses while at GW or during undergraduate studies.
  • Must be a junior, senior, or graduate student at George Washington University.
