What are the responsibilities and job description for the Traffic Management Systems Analyst position at Gwinnett County?
In addition to monitoring the signalized intersections, this section is responsible for the operation and maintenance of 470 flashing beacons, 300 miles of fiber optic communications cable, 960 network switches, 500 closed circuit television (CCTV) cameras, and the Gwinnett County Traffic Control Center (TCC). This position will assist with maintenance of GIS mapping.
Essential Duties
Opening the TCC in the morning and/or close it in the evening depending on assigned shift including weekends as necessary
Monitoring the flow of traffic on roads in the County via CCTV cameras
Monitoring construction activities, incidents, special events, and weather conditions that may impact traffic flow
Monitoring the current status and operation of public-facing devices: traffic signals, school beacons, and Connected Vehicle roadside units
Monitoring supporting devices that are part of the ATMS infrastructure: cameras, network switches, battery backup systems, conflict monitors, etc.);
Investigating reported traffic signal malfunctions and traffic issues
Making minor adjustments to traffic signals and school beacons using the associated software
Reporting issues to supervisor, emergency personnel, engineers and/or technicians via phone, email, and/or current “paging” software
Working with traffic signal engineers and field crews as needed on reviewing traffic signal operations
Running regular reports
- Ability to communicate effectively and engage with staff, citizens, leadership, and elected officials as needed.
- This job may require on-call rotation and emergency after hours, weekends, and/or holidays.
- This job is eligible for a hybrid telework schedule after an initial probationary period and individual approval.
The grade for this position is B232. Salary will be dependent on education and experience.
Effective 4/11/2023, this position is eligible for the Employee Referral Program.
Minimum Qualifications
- Associate's degree AND
- Two years of traffic investigations, traffic operations/ maintenance or related experience
- An equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the essential duties of the job such as those listed above will also be considered.
- Valid GA Driver's License
- Bachelor's Degree
