Job Title: Director of QEHS & Compliance 

Department: Quality 

Reports to: VP Engineering & Technology 

Classification: Exempt 

Location: Open 

Travel: Yes 


Job Summary: The Director of QEHS & Compliance will develop and implement AS9100, ISO9001, ISO14001 and ISO45001 standards at all facilities. This position will manage the quality control program to ensure the organization's production operations, from raw materials to finished products, meet the quality, integrity, and efficiency standards set by the organization. Establish compliance procedures and develop organizational strategies to ensure the company complies with all company, federal, state, and local regulations. 


Supervisory Responsibilities:  

  • Directs and manages the QEHS and compliance department staff 
  • Manages the safety compliance system 
  • Manages the compliance system 

Duties/Responsibilities: 

  • Oversee and direct the overall QEHS philosophy as well as the effectiveness of the QHES system 
  • Assist executive management with the development of the corporate QEHS objectives and maintain the appropriate system to monitor these objectives 
  • Develop an overall strategy to create a culture of continuous improvement 
  • On a monthly basis, prepare and present to the executive management team a review that includes key performance indicators, customer satisfaction report and management effectiveness 
  • Stop dangerous practices where there is imminent risk of injury or damage 
  • Reports and investigates all near misses, accidents and incidents 
  • Evaluates production, purchasing, sales, design & development operations from a strategic level to ensure that products meet quality, integrity, functionality, and other specifications and requirements by conducting internal audits in accordance with our QMS. 
  • Collaborates with management and senior staff across production departments and roles to draft acceptable quality standards. 
  • Collaborate with other staff to develop and implement quality standard testing and evaluation processes. 
  • Facilitate communication among production units and management. 
  • Reviews quality control documentation such as checklists, logs, and reports for effectiveness, accuracy, and relevance. 
  • Advise Quality Control management to conduct random inspections and quality control checks. 
  • Ensures the company is in compliance with outside regulatory, and legal requirements as well as internal policies and procedures 
  • Coordinates with ISO auditors and AS9100 registrar, appoint 3rd party auditors, and any other relevant parties. 
  • Performs other related duties as assigned. 

Education and Experience: 

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering or related industrial, scientific, or business field preferred. 
  • Minimum of eight years of related experience required with at least five years as a quality engineer or similar role highly preferred. 
  • Minimum of ISO9001 auditor training required.  Formal AS9100 training preferred. 
  • Experience working at a Cutting Tool Manufacturing facility preferred.  


Required Skills/Abilities:  

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to train staff. 
  • Thorough understanding of quality control standards and methodologies. 
  • Thorough understanding of manufacturing and production in the industry. 
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail. 
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills. 
  • Strong supervisory and leadership skills. 
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite.. 

Physical Requirements:  

  • Must be willing to travel to facilities frequently. 
  • Ability to travel between locations to include driving as well as flying. 
  • Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer. 
  • Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds at times.
