Gwynedd Mercy University is seeking an experienced and innovative higher education professional for the position of Registrar.

Gwynedd Mercy University is a private, Catholic institution with a strong foundation in the liberal arts, founded by the Sisters of Mercy in 1948. POSITION SUMMARY 

The Registrar directs the administrative and operational activities of the office of the Registrar, including all aspects of student registration and academic records. Creates, maintains, and disseminates enrollment and academic information relating to student enrollment.  Maintains academic integrity by recommending and enforcing academic policies.  The Registrar reports to the Provost/VPAA.

 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following (A full listing of key areas of work in the position are available on line; other duties may be assigned):

  • Plans and supervises student registrations including course schedules, drop/add process, withdrawals, final grades, honors, transfer evaluations and degree audits.
  • Supervises the organization and assignment of classroom space. Writes and publishes final course examination schedule.
  • Organizes and maintains the security and integrity of computerized and non- computerized academic records. Acts as the Data Steward for student information in the University’s data system.
  • Oversees the creation and production of reports on student academic performance and enrollment statistics to the University community weekly and ad hoc reports as needed.
  • Oversees the revision and updating of the Degree Audit system in coordination with approved curricula.
  • Recommends and implements academic policy. Advises the Provost/Vice-President for Academic Affairs on academic standards, polices and developments at the University and in higher education.
  • Creates the academic calendar and presents to Executive Council and the Faculty Student Committee for review and approval.
  • Provides leadership in the development and implementation of an integrated enrollment management system, working closely with Admissions, Student Billing and Financial Aid.
  •  Develops and manages the operational budget for the Registrar's Office.
  •  Updates the Registrar’s Office website and the University’s internal portal page as needed.
  • Administers and submits electronically student enrollment verification to the National Student Loan Clearinghouse as needed throughout the calendar yearSubmits Degree Completion Reports to the Clearinghouse as scheduled three times per year.
  • Provides appropriate information in preparation of statistical reports on enrollment statistics and educational activities in compliance with federal and state regulations, including assisting Institutional Research with IPEDS enrollment surveys.
  • Adheres to AACRO, FERPA and other federal and state regulations regarding students' academic records and privacy.
  • Attends workshops and studies professional publications to keep abreast of new rules and regulations and to promote the University by active participation in professional organizations.
  • Serves as a member of Academic Council, Retention Committee, CORE Team, Disabilities Awareness and other committees as assigned.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES

Directly supervises employees of the Registrar’s Office.  Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the University’s policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; verifying timecards; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.


Education/Experience

Master's degree and 3-5 years' progressively responsible experience in records management and registration is required.

Technical Skills

Demonstrated competence with electronic systems is essential; Ellucian Colleague experience is preferred. Record of leadership in the application of information technology; proficient in the use of Microsoft Word and Excel; Ability to use the Internet for information and communication; ability to download reports and files.

 

Interpersonal Skills

Ability to interact effectively and professionally with others. Ability to resolve conflicts in a non-threatening manner. Ability to motivate staff to work together as a team to accomplish tasks.
