The Client Relationship Management Business Development role (Research-Focused) drives new business development and outreach within the CRM team, specifically targeting human, animal, and agtech research sectors. This role exclusively concentrates on identifying, securing, and expanding business opportunities in regulated material storage solutions for preclinical and clinical materials (specimens, samples, and paper data), serving companies such as life science organizations, CROs, central laboratories, veterinary research labs, and agricultural technology firms.

Acting as a trusted advisor to potential clients, this role leads the marketing and sales process from initial contact through contract execution, ensures a smooth transition to service delivery teams, and continually pursues strategic avenues for growth. This Senior Specialist will also support developing and refining CRM best practices and processes, enhancing the overall effectiveness of the CRM department’s business development function..

New Business Development and Outreach

  • Proactively seek and generate new client leads in the human, animal, and agtech research markets.
  • Build and maintain a robust sales pipeline, ensuring steady growth in client acquisition.
  • Conduct market research and analysis to identify emerging opportunities, evolving trends, and potential partnerships.
  • Develop compelling value propositions and proposals tailored to each market segment (human, animal, agtech).
  • Establish a presence at industry events, conferences, and networking forums to expand brand awareness and forge new client relationships.

Client Engagement & Relationship Management

  • Serve as the primary point of contact for newly identified prospects, guiding them through proposal acceptance and contract execution.
  • Foster strong, trust-based relationships with stakeholders, positioning the organization as a leading provider of regulated storage solutions.
  • Oversee the onboarding process for new clients, ensuring seamless transitions to the GXP-Storage Service Delivery team.
  • Maintain consistent communication with clients, proactively identifying and addressing their evolving business needs.
  • Strategic Account Planning & Collaboration

  • Develop and execute strategic account plans for newly onboarded clients to establish long-term partnerships.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams (Operations, Regulatory, Sales, etc.) to align service offerings with client objectives, ensuring all regulatory requirements (GLP, GCP, FDA, USDA) are met.
  • Continuously identify upselling and cross-selling opportunities within existing client accounts for future business growth.
  • Market Intelligence & Data-Driven Insights

  • Utilize CRM software and advanced analytics to track key performance indicators, market trends, and customer data.
  • Generate regular reports and presentations to communicate sales performance, opportunities, and risks to senior management.
  • Stay updated on industry regulations (e.g., GLP, GCP, FDA, USDA) and emerging technologies in human, animal, and agtech research to advise on potential areas for service expansion.
  • Process Improvement & Leadership

  • Provide leadership and mentorship to CRM team members, sharing best practices for effective outreach and relationship management.
  • Help refine and implement CRM processes to optimize business development efficiency, ensuring consistent follow-up and client engagement.
  • Promote a collaborative culture within the CRM department, driving knowledge sharing around market intelligence, client experiences, and outreach strategies.
  • Research-Focused Responsibilities

    Regulated Material Storage Solutions

  • Focus on providing specialized, temperature-controlled storage and logistical support for human, animal, and agtech research materials.
  • Ensure compliance with GLP, GCP, FDA, and USDA regulations for a range of investigational products and specimens.
  • Human, Animal, and Agtech Research Markets

  • Work with research-focused organizations, including life science companies, CROs, central labs, veterinary research institutes, and agricultural tech firms .
  • Facilitate secure storage and management of biological samples, tissue specimens, vaccines, agricultural compounds, and other regulated materials .
  • Coordinate with regulatory bodies as necessary to verify storage protocols and ensure alignment with industry standards.
  • Expansion into Emerging Research Trends

  • Identify innovative opportunities in veterinary science, precision agriculture, and biotech research to diversify service offerings.
  • Position the organization as a thought leader in animal health and agtech research through targeted marketing campaigns, webinars, and industry publications.
  • Required :

  • High school diploma or equivalent required; bachelor’s degree in business, life sciences, or a related field preferred.
  • 10 years of experience in business development, client relationship management, or a related sales-oriented role.
  • Demonstrated track record of building and managing a sales pipeline, from lead generation to contract closure.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to influence and negotiate effectively.
  • Proficiency in CRM software and Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Knowledge of GLP, GCP, FDA, and USDA regulations relevant to human, animal, and agtech research.
  • Desired :

  • Bachelor’s degree or higher preferred (Business Administration, Life Sciences, or related field).
  • Experience with AI-driven logistics or storage solutions in regulated research environments.
  • Demonstrated ability to develop data-driven strategies and leverage market insights for business development.
  • Past experience within a CRO, central lab, veterinary research, or agricultural technology setting.
  • Working Conditions :

  • This job operates in a professional office environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, and filing cabinets.
  • Occasional travel to client sites across the USA to pursue new business opportunities and maintain relationships.
  • This role is based in Middlesex, North Carolina, with occasional travel to client sites across the United States. Candidates with exceptional experience may be considered for remote work.
