As a Developmental Specialist, you will engage in a multifaceted role, primarily working with individuals with developmental disabilities. Your responsibilities include assessing developmental levels, formulating individualized programs, collaborating with professionals, and communicating with families. This role demands maintaining high ethical standards, ongoing professional development, and, occasionally, direct client transport. Your goal is to support the development and skill acquisition of clients, ensuring their progress and well-being.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree
- 240 hours of professionally supervised experience with individuals who have developmental disabilities
- Completed a competency course and examination from the State
- Pass an initial criminal history background check through the Department of Health and Welfare
- Maintaining high ethical standards
- Completing a minimum of twelve hours of ongoing training annually
- Obtaining certification in first aid and CPR within sixty days of employment
Responsibilities:
- Conduct and document comprehensive developmental evaluations.
- Analyze developmental data to inform therapy types and volumes.
- Develop Individual Program Plans (IPPs), including instructional and behavioral plans.
- Collaborate and consult with professionals on participant needs; participate actively in IPP meetings.
- Provide monthly performance reviews and weekly supervision to paraprofessionals; coordinate their training.
- Engage with parents or guardians to communicate participant progress.
- Uphold ethical standards in all professional conduct.
- Commit to a minimum of twelve hours of annual ongoing training.
- Obtain first aid and CPR certification within the first sixty days of employment.
- Ensure reliable transportation for client mobility when necessary.
- Monitor, review, and approve paraprofessional data logs and notes on a weekly and monthly basis, respectively.
- Additional responsibilities as assigned by supervisor.
