A construction company with over 30 years of experience in general contracting and construction management is seeking a Controller to join its team. The firm specializes in high-end commercial, residential, hospitality, and retail projects and takes pride in its portfolio of work for distinguished clientele across Florida and the United States.
This position is based in the Wynwood neighborhood of Miami, with active projects located throughout Miami-Dade, Broward, and Palm Beach counties.
Responsibilities
- Oversee and manage all accounting functions related to commercial construction projects.
- Lead financial reporting, budgeting, and job costing activities.
- Ensure timely and accurate billing, accounts payable, and accounts receivable processes.
- Monitor project costs and budgets to achieve financial targets.
- Collaborate with project managers to assess project budgets, forecasts, and overall financial performance.
- Ensure compliance with accounting standards, tax laws, and industry-specific regulations.
- Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports for internal review.
- Establish and enhance accounting policies and procedures to drive efficiency and accuracy.
- Support the preparation of financial audits and work closely with external auditors.
- Oversee payroll processing and ensure compliance with labor laws.
- Deliver financial analysis and insights to support strategic decision-making.

Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field; CPA preferred.
- 8–10 years of accounting experience, with at least 5 years in construction accounting.
- Demonstrated experience as a Financial Controller or in a similar role within the construction industry.
- Strong understanding of construction accounting principles, job costing, and financial reporting.
- Proficiency with accounting software (e.g., Sage 300, Procore) and Microsoft Office Suite.
- Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving abilities.
- Ability to collaborate effectively with project managers and other team members.
- High level of attention to detail, accuracy, and integrity.
This is a full-time, on-site role based in Miami, FL.
