Support Staff are responsible for ensuring a safe and secure environment for all shelter guests. This role includes activities coordination with shelter guests. Engage with participants to understand their interests, needs, and preferences to tailor activities accordingly. Activities such as games, cards, arts and crafts etc.
H.O.M.E., Inc. is seeking a Shelter Support Staff member for its Ellsworth based shelter. We are seeking part-time staff for Saturday and Sunday as follows:
- Weekend shift - Ellsworth location 10am-8pm (Emmaus Shelter)
Candidates should have a caring heart and be comfortable maintaining good boundaries while helping people in crisis. The Shelter Support Staff should be able to work independently as well as with a team. Experience in a helping profession preferred. Experience working in residential programs, a plus.
Part-time weekend Shelter Support position starts at $17/hr. Part-time employees receive accrued vacation and sick time as well as paid time off for birthdays.
EDUCATION, TRAINING, & OTHER QUALIFICATIONS
- 1. Experience in a helping profession.
- 2. Knowledge of and sensitivity to issues of homelessness and poverty.
- 3. Effective written and oral communication skills.
- 4. Ability to set strong boundaries and work independently.
- 5. Basic computer competency.
- 6. Valid Maine driver’s license.
