Division info:
Located in Springfield, the 70 employee facility (100,000 sq. ft.) is one of Héroux-Devtek’s centers of excellence for the manufacturing of medium to large complex landing gear and titanium components.
As part of the Central Division you will lead P&L responsible for critical machining operations of major commercial aircraft programs such as the Boeing 777 and Embraer E-2, and important military programs as F-18, F-35, C-17 and C-130.
With a strong focus on latest technology of the manufacturing processes with machining automation and techniques we aim to remain the best value producer of complex landing gear components.

Summary of position:
The Grinder is responsible for grinding and sanding contoured metal surfaces using die grinder and hand tools to remove all flashing, sharp edges, and polish forgings to meet specified blue print dimensions.
Main responsibilities:
Obtain manufacturing plan/sketch for each part.
Selects necessary tools; abrasive tools, gages, micrometers, and calipers to perform operation to dimension specified.
Set up machine per dimension of blueprint.
Removes burrs and smoothes out surfaces to specifications.
Sands surfaces of cavity and gutter.
Performs other hand scraping, sanding, and brushing tasks, using hand tools, such as files and stones, to smooth surface.
Inspects quality of the parts.
Wear personal protective equipment when necessary and follow safety guidelines.
Maintain area and related equipment clean and in good working condition.
Report production time for each job.
Qualifications:
High School diploma or GED equivalent and industrial arts or machine trades training.
2 years minimum experience in performing deburring operations.
Ability to read blueprints and manufacturing sketches.
Knowledge of arithmetic involving decimals, fractions, and its application to the reading of drawings and measuring instruments or the calculations, and recording dimensions.
Ability to read inspection tools and have knowledge of Quality Control, gages, and micrometers.
