The Engineering Supervisor will oversee the daily operations and maintenance of the hotel’s mechanical, electrical, plumbing, HVAC systems, and all other engineering-related areas. Reporting to the Property Manager, this role involves supervising a team of engineering staff, ensuring the hotel remains in top condition, and providing a safe and comfortable environment for guests and employees. The Engineering Supervisor will be directly involved in performing maintenance tasks, managing team performance, and ensuring efficient operations while maintaining high safety and quality standards.

Job Functions

• Supervise a team of engineering staff, providing guidance, training, and ongoing development to ensure high performance and adherence to safety standards.
• Assign and prioritize daily tasks to engineering personnel, ensuring quality of work and adherence to deadlines.
• Oversee and execute the organization and inventories of storage areas and  engineering work spaces.
• Establish and maintain the appropriate attic stock of inventories
• Conduct regular inspections of the hotel’s mechanical, electrical, plumbing, HVAC, and other systems to ensure proper operation and safety compliance.
• Respond to emergency situations promptly, troubleshooting issues and implementing corrective actions as necessary.
• Ensure all work completed by engineering staff meets established standards of quality and efficiency.
• Oversee maintenance schedules, ensuring that regular checks and repairs are conducted with minimal disruption to hotel operations.
• Collaborate with external contractors and vendors to ensure maintenance and repair work meets hotel standards.
• Support the Property Manager in the management of the engineering department’s budget, ensuring costs remain within allocated limits.
• Maintain and update records related to maintenance work, inspections, repairs, and inventory management.
• Troubleshoot and resolve issues with hotel systems, recommending system upgrades or replacements as necessary.
• Assist in the development and implementation of procedures to enhance operational efficiency and safety.
• Ensure compliance with all Harwood Hospitality safety policies, procedures, and local regulations.
• Contribute to the overall strategy for facility maintenance and improvement in coordination with the Property Manager.

Required Education & Experience

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• 5 years of experience in engineering or maintenance management, with at least 3 years in a supervisory or leadership role within the hotel or hospitality industry.
• Relevant certifications or licenses in HVAC, electrical, mechanical, or building systems (CFC, etc.).
• Strong working knowledge of HVAC, plumbing, electrical, and building automation systems.
• Basic computer skills, including familiarity with Windows-based software.
• Experience working with computerized maintenance management systems (CMMS) is a plus.
• Strong problem-solving and troubleshooting skills.
• Ability to manage multiple tasks, set priorities, and maintain high levels of efficiency in a fast-paced environment.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience working in a luxury or boutique hotel environment.
• Knowledge of safety regulations and standards specific to the hospitality industry.
• Ability to communicate effectively with team members, management, and external partners.
