Summary:
Haas Media is seeking a Community Outreach Coordinator for an infrastructure project in New York City. This candidate will work between Weehawken and Manhattan (233 Broadway) between the start of work through April 2024. After April, the candidate will work in the Weehawken area.
The ideal Community Outreach Coordinator must be experienced self-starters. In addition, candidates must have strong communications and community engagement experience, along with knowledge of their respective community, neighborhood-based organizations and educational institutions for which they are applying. The ideal candidates must also have knowledge of the local media outlets and social media platforms in their communities.
The Community Outreach Coordinator will be responsible for attending weekly Project meetings (virtual and in-person), researching outreach events, representing the Project at community outreach events such as area fairs, markets etc. The Community Outreach Coordinator may also assist with the design of Project marketing materials and disseminating Project information.
Responsibilities:
- Support the Outreach Program Manager in the development and execution of community engagement and outreach strategies.
- Anticipate upcoming coordination & communication needs, identify potential obstacles and challenges, and proactively address community impacts and concerns.
- Plan, coordinate, and execute public engagement events including large public workshops, festivals, fairs, stakeholder meetings, briefings with elected officials, Community Board meetings, and other events as needed.
- Work efficiently in high-pressure environments and prioritize competing tasks to ensure smooth workflows and meet project deadlines.
- Schedule and coordinate internal and external meetings.
- Develop documents for internal and external communications.
- Write, design, and format communications and present reports, and upload documents to SharePoint.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's Degree or equivalent experience in urban planning, communications or other related field.
- Prior public engagement, community outreach or related experience preferred.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office, Share Point and Adobe communications, Creative Suite applications.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Excellent time management skills and ability to prioritize tasks, great attention to detail.
- Ability to work and communicate proactively as part of a diverse team.
- Availability to work evening and weekend events as needed.
- Must possess a laptop or desktop and be available to work remotely.
