Product Development and Optimization Specialist
This role is based on-site in Middletown, CT, and we invite local candidates to apply.
Job Summary:
The successful candidate will be responsible for driving new product development projects, optimizing existing products, and collaborating with various departments to facilitate commercialization.
Main Responsibilities:
- New Product Development:
- Design of experiments (DOE), proposing and executing experiment plans, analyzing laboratory and production data.
- Preparing prototypes for internal testing and field testing.
- Laboratory testing, including tensile, coefficient of friction, abrasion, rheology, and others.
- Maintaining clear laboratory notes and preparing test reports.
- Supervising scale-up of new raw materials and products from R&D to manufacturing.
- Supporting the manufacturing team with process improvement and troubleshooting projects.
- Leading raw material qualification projects in collaboration with supply chain and manufacturing teams.
- Project Management:
- Preparing project updates and technical reports for supervisors outlining progress and next steps.
- Performing all duties in a safe manner according to standard operating procedures and observing EHS rules and regulations.
Requirements:
- Bachelor's Degree in Chemical Engineering, Chemistry, or related field.
- 0-5 years' experience in research and development or application engineering.
- Project management experience.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English.
Preferred Qualifications:
- R&D laboratory experience, including polymer materials testing and/or mixing of rubber and plastic materials.
- Experience testing, analyzing, and characterizing polymeric materials.
- Experience with plastics, rubber, and/or urethane chemistry.
