What are the responsibilities and job description for the Transit Driver (PT) position at Habersham County Board of Commissioners?
This position is responsible for driving a van to transport citizens.
Major Duties:
- Operates a van to pick up and transport citizens to various locations throughout the County.
- Accepts money from patrons; maintains records of same; balances transit funds.
- Maintains trip record, mileage, and preventive maintenance logs.
- Performs preventive maintenance on the vans, including oiling and fueling, checking for repair needs, and
driving vans to the service shop.
- Cleans and washes the van.
- Assists patrons in getting on and off the transit van; assures that wheelchair-bound patrons are properly
secured.
- Responds to passenger complaints.
- Operates a cell phone and onboard table to send and receive messages.
- Train Transit Operators.
- Performs other related duties as required for the efficient operations of the department.
Minimum Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Must be at least 18 years old or older of time of hire to meet all legal requirements for this position.
- Sufficient experience to understand the basic principles relevant to the major duties of the position, usually
associated with the completion of an apprenticeship/internship or having had a similar position usually
associated with one year of experience.
- Possession of a valid Driver’s License issued by the State of Georgia.
The successful candidate must pass a Background/Reference Check, and Pre-Employment Drug Screenings prior
to the start of employment.
