Job Overview
Habitat for Humanity of Clallam County is seeking a Construction Field Operations Manager to oversee daily on-site construction activities, ensuring projects run efficiently, safely, and in alignment with Habitat’s mission. This role is a blend of coordination, leadership, and hands-on building, working alongside staff carpenters, volunteers, and subcontractors to create high-quality, affordable housing in our community.
Key Responsibilities:
Construction Coordination & Oversight
- Manage on-site new construction activities and repairs, ensuring projects stay on schedule and meet quality standards.
- Coordinate subcontractors and tradespeople, ensuring work aligns with plans and safety requirements.
- Oversee materials procurement and site logistics, including tracking deliveries and maintaining inventory.
- Monitor adherence to building codes, Habitat construction standards, and best practices.
Volunteer Engagement & Training
- Create a welcoming and productive environment for volunteers of all skill levels.
- Provide hands-on training, instruction, and supervision to volunteers, AmeriCorps members, and partner families.
- Ensure volunteers have meaningful work that aligns with project goals and safety standards.
- Foster a positive team environment that encourages learning and participation.
Safety & Quality Assurance
- Maintain a strong culture of safety, ensuring all workers and volunteers follow OSHA and Habitat safety guidelines.
- Conduct site safety briefings and monitor compliance with protective measures.
- Identify and address potential hazards, ensuring a secure and productive worksite.
- Perform quality control checks throughout construction to maintain durability and efficiency standards.
Hands-On Building & Leadership
- Work alongside staff carpenters and volunteers, actively participating in construction activities.
- Troubleshoot on-site issues, problem-solving in real time to keep projects moving forward.
- Act as a liaison between the construction team, project manager, and other Habitat departments.
Qualifications & Skills
- 5 years of residential construction experience, including framing, siding, and finish work.
- Experience managing construction sites, subcontractors, and/or volunteer groups.
- Strong leadership, communication, and team-building skills.
- Ability to train and mentor volunteers with varying skill levels.
- Commitment to Habitat for Humanity’s mission and values.
- Knowledge of OSHA safety regulations and willingness to obtain safety certifications.
- Proficiency in reading blueprints and construction documents.
- Basic computer skills for scheduling, documentation, and reporting.
- Ability to lift 50 lbs, work in various weather conditions, and perform physical labor as needed.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience working with nonprofits or volunteer-based organizations.
- First aid/CPR certification.
- Experience in energy-efficient and high-performance building techniques.
Compensation & Benefits
- Salary: Starting $65,000/yr DOE.
- 75% of Health Care Premiums (Employee pays 25%).
- 100% of Dental and Vision Premiums.

- Reports to: Director of Operations
- 40hrs/wk, 8:00am to 4:30pm, Tuesday through Saturday
- Annual HFHI Competent Persons Training required
