What are the responsibilities and job description for the Medical Billing and Coding Specialist position at Hackensack Pediatrics?
We are a warm, "family-feel" Pediatric Office in Hackensack looking for a kind, detail-oriented individual with a strong understanding of medical coding and billing processes. Responsibilities:
- Review and analyze medical records and documentation to ensure accurate coding and billing
- Assign appropriate diagnosis and procedure codes using ICD-10 and DRG coding systems
- Verify patient insurance coverage and process claims for reimbursement
- Communicate with healthcare providers to obtain missing or incomplete documentation
- Follow up on unpaid claims and resolve billing discrepancies
Requirements:
- Proven experience as a Medical Biller or in a similar role
- Strong knowledge of coding systems and billing procedures
- Proficient in using medical billing software and electronic health record (EHR) systems
- Excellent attention to detail and accuracy in coding and billing processes
- Strong communication skills to interact with healthcare providers, insurance companies, and patients
- High level of integrity and commitment to patient privacy
