What are the responsibilities and job description for the Frontend Software Engineer (CMM Team) position at Hadrian?
Hadrian — Manufacturing the Future
Hadrian is building autonomous factories that help aerospace and defense companies make rockets, jets, and satellites 10x faster and 2x cheaper. Our CEO, Chris Power, discusses the importance of what we're building in this video.
We are a lean but mighty team (and growing!) people that are passionate about building critical infrastructure to support the nation and the advancement of humanity.
To support our ambitious vision, we have raised > $200M from Lux Capital, A16Z, Founders Fund, Construct Capital, Caffeinated Capital, and more.
Building Copilot
Copilot is our suite of CAD/CAM automation software that is responsible for automating Design for Manufacturing (DFM) analysis, CAM programming, and CMM programming. We work with some of the best operators in the world to identify high impact areas to automate and/or automate with software. Our team develops software, manufacturing processes, and machine controls and we integrate with a variety of machines and robotics systems. We are responsible for designing and implementing the solutions cradle to grave. Broadly, this can be any combination of full stack web engineering, applications engineering, computational geometry, and working with a number of engineering centric APIs (documented and undocumented).
\n- Work with stakeholders to identify product gaps and improve team’s primary products
- Build user facing applications and UIs to navigate complex industrial processes and give super powers to our elite operations team
- Build and modify complex web services in service of large scale distributed systems and applications, reason about data coherency across large systems, third party external applications, and user mental models
- Push new boundaries for industrial UIs - experiment with novel workflows using heavy 3D visualization for quality inspection that no one will have ever built before
- Drive product vision and long term roadmap by taking on responsibility for understanding company goals, team metrics, and systematically improving our overall system health across operations and software
- Bachelors Degree in Computer Science or equivalent CS coursework.
- 4 years work experience is preferential but not necessary
- TypeScript/React and some kind of state management solution experience (Zustand / Redux)
- Traditional web development skills are a big bonus: setting up patterns for managing DBs - orms, migration schemas, standard CRUD application development
- 3D math background
- Strong ability to write high quality code: You like writing high quality code in a strongly typed language. You enjoy structuring a complex solution into simple, easily digestible building blocks and are as excited to write high quality code as to have something working. A well scoped refactor of your work gives you joy
- Frontend tech stack and development. You’ve worked to build applications in React / Typescript and (Redux / Zustand). You’re interested in picking up React three fiber if you haven’t worked with it already and are curious about the larger frontend ecosystem
- Product discovery: You enjoy talking directly to users. You want to understand how to solve what really matters for your users and care that they enjoy working with the products you build. You’re not afraid to push back at times when you think your user is requesting a feature that is better solved with another approach
