What are the responsibilities and job description for the Student Worker - Title III Peer Mentor position at HAGERSTOWN COMMUNITY COLLEGE?
Duties:
The Title III Student Peer Mentor will engage and connect current HCC students enrolled in First-Year Experience.
- Support First-Year Experience (FYE) students providing personalized appropriate supports.
- Attend assigned First-Year Experience (FYE) course lectures.
- Assist First-Year Experience (FYE) students with appropriate social engagement within the Hagerstown Community College community.
- Provide appropriate modeling of classroom etiquette (in-person and online).
- Support First-Year Experience (FYE) students to advocate for the accessibility of course material – as relevant.
- Assist with executive functioning, organization, time management, study skills, test-taking skills, and assistive technology.
- Must be available to assist with New Student Orientation in the Fall and Spring semesters.
- Weekly check-ins with the Title III Retention Activity Coordinator on the progress of students in the First-Year Experience course.
Special Skills Needed:
- Campus involvement, leadership ability, communication skills, and interest and enthusiasm to work with other students.
Additional Information: Start date for this position will be at the beginning of the Fall 2024 semester.
