Brief Position Description
The Project Engineer is a key component in the Project Management team workflow in terms of document control, record keeping, and clear communication with clients, subcontractors, vendors, and all Haggerty Construction Inc. (HCI) team members from project inception to completion. The minimum requirements for this position include, but are not limited to, the following:
RESPONSIBILITIES
Preconstruction
- Attend onsite and offsite design meetings with clients, consulting firms and/or engineers, and record meeting minutes
- Assist in the preparation of all necessary bid requests for design professionals as may be necessary
- Collaborate with Preconstruction Assistant and drafters to communicate design information and/or specific client requests as needed
- In early budgeting phase and final/hard bid scenarios, coordinate subcontractor bids, including preparing bid invitations, reviewing incoming bids for scope and pricing, scheduling site visits with subcontractors to review the scope of projects, acquiring best pricing from subcontractors and suppliers, and developing bid presentations
- Manage RFP process inclusive of pre-bid RFI tracking and document control
- Create and prepare takeoffs, estimates, and proposals for Project Manager review effectively with the right amount of detail and explanation of individual components of the budget and identify deficiencies in scope coverage
- Ensure a preliminary construction schedule has been developed for each estimate in collaboration with Project Manager
- Ensure project plans are submitted and retrieved from project specific authorities having jurisdiction (AHJ)
- Ensure prompt distribution of plan check comments with response deadlines with direction from Project Manager
- Review AHJ websites to download additional documents and/or required forms during plan check
Construction
- Collaborate with Project Administrator for the creation of subcontracts, work orders, and purchase orders
- Write subcontracts and purchase orders under direction from Project Manager
- Assist project manager with scheduling Project kickoff meetings
- Attend onsite and offsite construction meetings with clients, consulting firms and/or engineers, and record meeting minutes
- Prompt and accurate distribution of project schedules, drawings and addenda, and other project specifications to subcontractors and vendors as required.
- Ensure subcontractor submittals match the project plans, specification book, and/or plan set
- Maintaining and updating the overarching project schedule and distributing to subcontractors
- Work with Superintendent to address daily construction issues and prepare/distribute RFIs as needed
- Price and prepare all job specific change orders as directed by the Project Manager
- Collaborate with Project Administrator during monthly billing procedures
- Maintain consistent communication rhythms with job specific subcontractors, Superintendents/Foreman, and vendors to ensure timely and profitable project completion
Safety:
- Collaborates with Superintendent to complete a job hazard analysis for each project.
- Assists in achieving a zero-injury safety culture through the support of HCI’s Safety Program
- Actively participates in safety meeting and training sessions
- Proactively identifies and communicates safety improvements and hazardous conditions to maintain a safe, healthy work environment and meet HCI safety standards
- Reviews all jobsite safety meeting notes
Document Control
- Preparation, collection, tracking, recirculation, logging, and organization of all project-specific Schedules, Request for Information (RFI’s), Submittals, and Construction Documents (CD’s)
- Organization and logging of all Plan Sets ensuring the most current set is being referenced in Procore
- Maintaining organized job project folders on HCI’s main server/repository and ensuring all project documents are available in Procore
- Accurate preparation of subcontractor contracts and purchase orders in compliance with the bid documents, budget, and estimate in HCI’s current construction management software program
- Review Daily Reports and ensuring pertinent information is captured and addressed and then routed to the project specific Project Manager for approval
- Preparation and logging of all RFIs and Change Orders
- Organizes and labels as-builts, field, and office files for archiving upon completion of project
- Assists with data entry, print and distribution of master look ahead schedules
- Preparation of subcontractor bid packages as needed
- Ensuring bids received provide complete scope coverage by qualified subcontractors and material vendors
- Ensure the budget/proposal package is complete and accurate prior to delivery to client

Educational and Experience Considerations:
- Requires a minimum of 5 years of experience in the construction industry with a strong background in the preconstruction process, planning, design phase management, and managing multiple projects simultaneously
Degree or Certification in Construction Management (preferred)
Salary : $75 - $85
