Hahn Loeser & Parks seeks a Construction Consultant based in Cleveland, Ohio, to serve as a technical advisor for our nationally ranked Construction Law Group and provide our clients with specialized knowledge in construction operations.
Hahn Loeser is a national law firm founded in 1920 with six offices and represents a wide range of construction-related clients throughout the United States. The work performed by our team involves complex projects and intricate legal issues. Our clients include contractors, subcontractors, suppliers, sureties, owners, developers, and design professionals.
We are expanding Hahn Loeser’s specialized subsidiary construction services team, Parks Construction Consultants, comprised of non-lawyer industry professionals who collaborate with the firm’s construction lawyers and clients to evaluate critical project elements. This includes analysis and management of project records, evaluation of schedules and cost impacts, assessment of contract requirements and key project documentation, implementation of enhanced recordkeeping strategies to manage project impacts and claims, and avoiding or minimizing the risk of potential claims.
Duties
- Investigating and preparing detailed review and analysis of project records
- Aiding with developing, maintaining, and updating construction schedules
- Identifying and analyzing impacts to existing critical path schedules
- Evaluating and preparing schedule and cost impacts
- Assembling comprehensive damages for claims management
- Helping with best construction management practices and risk management measures
Annual salary is commensurate with professional experience. Occasional travel may be required.
Qualifications
- 4 to 6 years of construction experience, including managing contracts and subcontracts, change orders, and the requisite documentation for all project phases
- Experience in estimating and budget tracking
- Experience in scheduling and schedule management
- Experience in project oversight and field execution
- Experience in document management
- Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in a construction-related field
Skills
- Strong analytical, writing, and collaborative abilities
- Must be able to write reports and business correspondence and effectively present information to legal, design, and construction professionals
- Ability to successfully manage multiple projects and/or tasks simultaneously to provide excellence in client services
- Professional and timely communication with attorneys and construction representatives at all levels (project, job site, executive, accounting, etc.)
- Proactive approach to preventing problems and resolving emerging issues, and the ability to analyze, manage, and mitigate risks throughout a project’s lifecycle
- Strong communication and presentation skills to occasionally participate in industry presentations with Construction Law attorneys and other construction professionals
- Working knowledge of applicable software, specifically Microsoft Office, but also including programs such as Primavera and Microsoft Project
