Environmental Scientist, Environmental Engineer or Geologist Intern

We are looking to add new talent to our growing team! We are currently seeking a Environmental Scientist, Environmental Engineer or Geologist Intern to work during the summer of 2025. This person will assist project teams with day-to-day project tasks. This is a temporary role that will be about 3 months long starting in May or June of 2025. This is a fantastic opportunity to get some hands-on, working field experience and be a valuable contributor to our project teams. This is a full-time position located in our Rochester, NY office.

DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES
The successful candidate will:

• Serve in a office and field support role, working on technically challenging projects.
• Assist Project Managers and technical staff with the planning and execution of various projects including contaminated site investigation, natural resource permitting, geotechnical investigation, renewable energy, and construction projects.
• Perform various research tasks.
• Assist technical staff with collecting soil and groundwater samples.
• Assist with summarizing and evaluating subsurface geotechnical and environmental information and laboratory analytical data.
• Assist our construction monitoring service group at construction sites.
• Complete 40-hour OSHA HAZWOPER training course where required (not all internship programs will require this training).
• Attend weekly Lunch and Learns.
• Attend weekly Internship Community Sessions.
• Complete a presentation at the end of the Summer to include, but not limited to:
• Overall internship experience, technical projects review, favorite project, biggest obstacle, etc.
• Demonstrate initiative and a willingness to learn.
• Be a collaborative team player with excellent communication skills.
• Computer Skills – Strong computer literacy skills including proficiency in all MS Office software.
• Must have a valid Driver’s license.
• Ability to work for 3 or more consecutive months on a full-time basis (minimum of 12 weeks preferred).
• Other duties as assigned.

SKILLS/EXPERIENCE

• Candidate should be at least 2 years into their academic career.
•  Candidate should be enrolled in a geotechnical, or environmental engineering OR a environmental science, geology or geoscience educational program (undergraduate or graduate).

The salary range for this position in Rochester, NY is $23.00 - $26.00 per hour. Actual compensation will be based upon a variety of factors such as education, related work experience, certificates, skills, and current market conditions. Haley & Aldrich reviews salary ranges each quarter to assess competitiveness with the market.
