What are the responsibilities and job description for the Special Event Manager position at Halifax at W Hoboken?
Halifax is an upscale restaurant at the base of the W Hoboken Hotel that focuses on locally sourced and sustainable ingredients. Halifax has a very active events department that averages several events any given week. We are looking for an enthusiastic and energetic individual that is willing to grow within the company. The event manager reports to general manager and will be a vital component to the successful operation of Halifax. Job responsibilities include overseeing inquiries, coordinating multiple calendars, conducting site visits, and collaborating with internal departments such as front of the house and back of the house operations. The event managers top priority will be to provide support for the entire team and assist in maintaining efficiency and growth of the sales department.
QUALIFICATIONS
- Prior experience in events/hospitality
- Must have exceptional customer service
- Must be able to work flexible hours, including evenings, weekends, holidays, and as event schedule dictates
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, including proficient writing and computer skills, strength in analytical and reasoning skills
- Ability to exercise good judgement, work productively under deadlines and carry out multiple tasks within their responsibilities
- Exceptional attention to detail and ability to perform non-routine work with changing priorities, while collaborating & working closely with restaurant managers
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Plan, execute, and facilitate events
- Address all inquiries pertaining to event space, logistics, pricing etc.
- Answer phone calls, emails, and inquiries in a timely manner
- Ability to handle contract execution, payments, and invoices
- Lead administrative tasks including updating event calendars, distributing banquet event orders, tracking payments, creating floorplans, and printing collateral for events
