What are the responsibilities and job description for the Elementary School Custodian position at Halifax Elementary School?
Halifax School has an immediate opening for a Custodian!
This position is up to 35 hours per week, year round- with prorated benefits. The successful applicant will have had experience working in a school or similar business, cleaning and maintaining the building grounds.
Job Summary: The Custodian is responsible for routine building and grounds maintenance and related administration, to provide students with a safe and clean learning environment. Flexible working hours- majority will be after school and/or evenings.
Essential Functions:
Clean floors, carpets and bathrooms daily
Collect and properly dispose of trash daily from all rooms
Check for and replenish bathroom supplies
Perform or arrange for maintenance projects such as painting, window washing, minor plumbing and electrical and landscaping
Monitor and maintain appropriate building temperature both during and after school hours
Shovel snow and spread sand and salt on icy surfaces- walkways and door access locations
Secure premises when work is complete at the end of the day
Set up for events held in school and subsequent clean up
Attend annual trainings such as, but not limited to: asbestos, OSHA, and other required trainings
Order and maintain supply inventory of cleaning and paper goods
Assure annual checks of all safety equipment, such as but not limited to fire alarms, fire extinguishers, etc.
