The Senior Accountant is responsible for overseeing the preparation and analysis of financial statements, ensuring compliance with GAAP and SEC regulations, and coordinating and participating in annual external and internal audits. This role involves managing complex accounting tasks such as month-end close processes, and variance analysis. The Senior Accountant also assumes ownership of the monthly closing process in a timely and accurate manner. The position is responsible for analyzing and reporting significant variances and other expectations to provide strategic financial insights to executive management. Strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and a thorough understanding of accounting principles are essential for success in this role. The position is in a fast-paced environment with a growing company in the energy segment.
Responsibilities
- Preparation and review of workpapers in more complex areas.
- Ownership of accurate and timely monthly close process.
- Maintain effective internal controls and processes to ensure the accuracy of financial reporting, the integrity of corporate data, and safeguarding of assets.
- Assist in the preparation of weekly cash flow forecasts w/ variance explanations to prior forecasts.
- Analyze and report significant variances from budgets and other expectations to management.
- Significantly participate in the annual external and internal audits.
- Ensure compliance with local, state, and federal government requirements.
- Work alongside other departments on various projects.
- Performs other related duties as necessary or assigned.
Qualifications:
- Education And Experience/Skills
- Strong understanding of GAAP and technical accounting
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Analytical; High attention to detail, organized with exceptional time-management skills
- Ability to deliver quality work on tight deadlines, with strong organization and priority setting skills
- Proficient in accounting software.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite or similar software.
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting required.
- 3 years or more of related experience required in a similar role.
- Certified Public Accountant designation preferred.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Advanced Degree: Master’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or Business Administration.
- Certifications: Additional certifications such as CMA (Certified Management Accountant) are a plus.
- Experience: Experience in a senior financial management role and public accounting.
Salary : $165,000 - $185,000
