Hamilton, Cherry, Spradlin, & Mandrell is a Certified Public Accounting Firm located in Searcy, AR, founded in 1962. We offer a wide range of services dedicated to serving the unique needs of each of our clients including personal and professional accounting, tax, payroll, and business services. This position is eligible for production-based bonuses of a percentage of the billings based on the individual’s performance. The standard work schedule is Monday – Friday, 8 – 5. After initial onboarding, a flexible schedule is available outside of tax season. All employees are also eligible for a summer schedule between Memorial Day and Labor Day working 4 days/week. All flexible scheduling and summer hours are based on individual and company performance. Additional hours are required during the busy season months of January through the April tax deadline.
Position Overview:
This position is responsible for communicating with clients to provide contracted accounting services along with assisting and overseeing other office personnel to ensure the quality of the work of the firm and to meet the required deadlines. There are a variety of accounting duties this position will be accountable for which are standard procedures for a local accounting firm.
Position Summary:
This role is responsible for preparing income tax returns for individuals and all business types. Also assisting business owners and individuals in periodic and year-end tax planning. Overseeing multiple monthly bookkeeping clients and advising on any specific questions that arise during the year. Conducting the various aspects of financial statement preparations, compilations, and reviews under the oversight of the partner-in-charge of the engagement. This position will work closely with various clients, owners, and accounting staff, to advise regarding all levels of the financial activity of their businesses depending on their specific needs.
This position would be responsible for accomplishing all other duties as required or assigned.
Qualifications:
Education: BS Degree in Accounting required and have met the hours requirement to sit for the CPA exam. An existing CPA license is preferred.
Experience: Must have at least 1 ( ) years of accounting experience. Tax experience preferred. Nonprofit experience will be helpful but not required. Must be able to stay up to date with all continuing education requirements to maintain a valid CPA license and a willingness to stay up to date with the latest accounting methods and technology.
Communication Skills: Excellent verbal and written communication skills required. Strong interpersonal skills needed. Must be able to explain complex accounting data in a simple way.
Computer Skills: Proficient with MS Office, QuickBooks, and Tax Return Preparation Software. Proficient with Lacerte Tax preferred. Must be able to learn accounting systems and software quickly.

The role must be able to work independently and as part of a team. This position requires strong critical thinking and problem-solving skills.
