Soddy Daisy Middle School is a 6-8 school located in Soddy Daisy, TN, just north of Chattanooga. SDMS is a smaller middle school in a very tight knit community. Our school is much like an extended family for the staff who work here. SDMS is an "open enrollment" school which means that students can choose to come here. Our top notch teachers work collaboratively to create engaging lessons. We intentionally mentor new teachers so that there is always support as teachers hone their craft.
We are looking for energetic, collaborative, and creative teachers who love to see kids learn and want to be an important "difference maker" in young adult lives.
Responsibilities
Teaching & Learning - Deeply understand the Tennessee Science Standards and establish clear learning targets for every lesson. Build rigorous and aligned assessments and consistently engage students with science and engineering practices (SEPs). Follow Hamilton County Schools’ instructional framework, including:

Classroom Culture: Build a safe and productive classroom culture. Positive relationships are evident, procedures are clear, and the classroom is safe and secure for learning to unfold. Student and teacher interactions promote a growth mindset.
Family & Community: Consistently develop strong relationships with students’ families while diligently informing parents of expectations, positive news, and/or concerns about their children. Provide opportunities for parents to be involved in their children’s learning.
Professional Responsibilities: Actively participates in professional learning communities (PLCs) with colleagues in order to improve teaching and student learning. Reflect on instruction and leadership while contributing ideas, expertise, and time to the mission and goals of the school.

Compensation
Salary is based on a combination of relevant education and experience.
This position may be eligible for an increase in total compensation. The Differentiated Compensation Plan applies to designated schools and hard-to-staff positions.
