Description
Under limited supervision, performs the operation and maintenance of the Hamilton County WWTA Sanitary Sewer Collection System and Wastewater Treatment Plants, and is responsible for performing activities related to ensuring the operation/procedures are properly implemented to meet regulatory requirements and perform specialized work associated with operation/maintenance of Wastewater Treatment Plant and Decentralized Treatment systems. Work requires limited supervision and fills in as Plant Operator when needed.

Minimum Qualifications
An Associate’s Degree in Environmental Science or a closely related field and a valid driver’s license. A valid driver’s license is required.
OR
The equivalent of a High School Diploma and at least two (2) years of experience in the operation and maintenance of a wastewater treatment plant or decentralized treatment system. A valid driver’s license is required.
SAFETY SENSITIVE:
This position has been identified as “safety-sensitive” under the definition of 49 CFR Part 40-Department of Transportation Workplace Drug and Alcohol Policy. This position will be subject to drug and alcohol testing for the following: 1) post-offer pre-employment 2) when there is reasonable cause 3) after an on-the-job accident or contributing to an accident 4) on a random basis 5) prior to return to duty after suspension and/or 6) as follow-up. This is additional and also subject to the Rules and Regulations of The Employee Handbook.
ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS:
This position requires one of the following: State of Tennessee Certification as a Wastewater Treatment Operator Grade II or III, or the ability to obtain one within two (2) years of date of hire.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
Work requires moderate physical effort involving considerable driving and walking with limited sitting and standing. Regular visits to construction, collection system, and treatment plant sites are required. Occasional lifting and carrying up to one hundred (100) pounds is required. Required to enter confined spaces.
