Position Overview:

The Assistant General Manager will support the daily operations of the restaurant, ensuring a seamless and memorable experience for our guests. In this role, you will leverage your extensive wine knowledge to assist in curating wine pairings, managing inventory, and leading the front-of-house team. You will work closely with the General Manager to maintain operational efficiency, manage staff, and uphold our high standards of service and quality.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Oversee and manage day-to-day operations of the restaurant, including staff supervision, guest service, and quality control.
  • Assist in the creation and execution of wine programs, ensuring a diverse, exciting, and complementary wine list that enhances the dining experience.
  • Provide expert wine recommendations to guests, guiding them through pairing options and educating staff on wine offerings.
  • Monitor and manage inventory, ensuring proper stock levels and rotation of wines.
  • Handle customer concerns and feedback promptly and professionally, ensuring guest satisfaction at all times.
  • Assist with staff training and development, particularly focusing on wine education and service.
  • Collaborate with the culinary team to ensure the seamless pairing of wine with menu items.
  • Help manage scheduling, labor costs, and operational budgets to ensure profitability.
  • Maintain cleanliness, organization, and proper maintenance of the restaurant and wine storage areas.
  • Foster a positive and team-oriented environment, setting a high standard for professionalism and customer service.

Qualifications:

  • Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in a restaurant management role, preferably in a fine dining or wine-centric environment.
  • Strong knowledge of wines, including regions, varietals, and pairing techniques. Sommelier certification (e.g., WSET, CMS, or similar) is highly preferred.
  • Proven ability to lead and motivate a team, providing clear direction and maintaining morale.
  • Exceptional communication and customer service skills.
  • Ability to handle fast-paced, high-pressure situations with professionalism and poise.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to manage inventory and control costs effectively.
  • Knowledge of restaurant POS systems and scheduling tools.
  • Passion for hospitality and a deep commitment to delivering a top-tier guest experience
