JOB SUMMARY
Performs echocardiograms, stress echocardiograms, transesophageal echocardiograms and related procedures. They assist in their interpretation. They maintain records, charges, and compile reports. Provides patient care for patients aged newborn and up.
JOB QUALIFICATIONS
Education: Education as required to achieve eligibility to sit for the Registered Cardiac Sonographer (RCS) credential from Cardiovascular Credentialing International or the Registered Diagnostic Sonographer (RCDS) credential from the American Registry for Diagnostic Medical Sonography.
Licensure: Registered Cardiovascular Technologist (CCI) or eligible; registered Diagnostic Cardiac Sonographer (RDCS) or eligible.
Experience: Prior experience in performing cardio diagnostic and ultrasound procedures.
Skills: Thorough knowledge of cardiac anatomy and physiology. Strong interpersonal communications and diagnostic testing skills. BLS
certified. ACLS desirable.
PHYSICAL, MENTAL, ENVIRONMENTAL AND WORKING CONDITIONS
Works within typical Cardiology treatment settings as well as on patient floors, specialized units, and outpatient settings. May be required to work a flexible schedule; required to rotate on-call responsibilities. Exposure to potential contagious diseases. Ability to work with typical equipment associated with diagnostic testing.
Required to display characteristics consistent with job related functions. Substantial amount of walking and standing required. Frequent lifting, bending, and reaching required. Moderate amount of stress.
