What are the responsibilities and job description for the Medical Staff Credentialing Coordinator - FT position at Hamilton Medical Center Inc?
Accountable for planning, coordinating, and organizing the functions of Medical Staff Services. Responsibilities include initiating, receiving, and processing all initial Medical Staff, Allied Health Professional, and Physician Personal Employee applications. Communicates regularly with all applicants regarding information needed for the completion of applications. Responsible for coordinating the credentialing and reappointment process of Hamilton Medical Center Staff and Allied Health Providers in accordance with the Joint Commission, National Practitioner Data Bank, Composite State Board, and Hamilton Medical Center standards. Coordinates the activities and functions of assigned Medical Staff committees. Expected to stay current with profession trends in Medical Staff credentialing and reappointments, maintaining policies necessary for efficient implementation of these functions. Maintains current Bylaws, provides expertise, research, and coordinates appropriate revisions to the Bylaws, including those mandated by regulatory and accrediting agencies. Completes the Emergency Departments Medical and Surgical Call calendar. The completion and distribution of the calendar for Medical Staff Meetings. Other duties include the process of entering new providers into the hospital information and access systems, assisting in development of yearly capital and operating budgets, and ensuring the operating statement remains in budget or provides information to justify variance. Serves as a liaison for Medical Staff, Medical Auxiliary, and Medical Staff office personnel, including operational, political, and social aspects. Maintains effective working relationships with the Medical Staff President, CEO, COO, CMO/VP, Vice Presidents, Medical Consultants, and hospital departments.
Education: Two years of college level courses, preferably in secretarial science or office administration, associates degree preferred
Licensure: None
Certification: NAMSS Certified Provider Credentialing Specialist (CPCS) required within 3 years.
