Medical Records Clerk Job Responsibilities :
Oversees the daily operations of the Medical Records Department
Abstracting, analyzing, auditing, and coding of all medical records in a timely manner.
Oversees the release of medical record information, archiving / storage of medical records, and transcription / dictation processing.
Collects and analyzes data for quality improvement.
Completes quarterly performance improvement reports in a timely manner.
Suggests changes to Medical Record policies and procedures.
Functions as a member of assigned committees.
Works closely with nursing, social work, and finance to ensure PPS compliance and unit profitability.
Looks to become highly involved in areas outside specific job functions.
Medical Records Clerk Qualifications :
Graduate of an accredited high school or GED preferred.
Knowledge of office procedures, medical terminology, typing, filing, transcription, and computers is required.
Previous experience in a hospital or sub-acute setting
