Medical Records Clerk Job Responsibilities:
- Oversees the daily operations of the Medical Records Department
- Abstracting, analyzing, auditing, and coding of all medical records in a timely manner.
- Oversees the release of medical record information, archiving/storage of medical records, and transcription/dictation processing.
- Collects and analyzes data for quality improvement.
- Completes quarterly performance improvement reports in a timely manner.
- Suggests changes to Medical Record policies and procedures.
- Functions as a member of assigned committees.
- Works closely with nursing, social work, and finance to ensure PPS compliance and unit profitability.
- Looks to become highly involved in areas outside specific job functions.
Medical Records Clerk Qualifications:
- Graduate of an accredited high school or GED preferred.
- Knowledge of office procedures, medical terminology, typing, filing, transcription, and computers is required.
- Previous experience in a hospital or sub-acute setting
