Hammond Lower School seeks a dynamic and enthusiastic Lower School Musical Performing Arts Teacher to join our faculty. The ideal candidate will possess a passion for music education and performing arts, along with experience and training in working with children from PreK (4-year-olds) through 4th grade. This full-time, exempt position requires expertise in choral singing, rhythmic movement, music reading, instrument instruction, directing performances, and effective communication. Candidates should be prepared for a full-time teaching commitment and a willingness to engage actively in the school community.
Responsibilities:
- Implement an engaging and developmentally appropriate music and performing arts curriculum for PreK through 4th grade students that includes instruments, voice, movement, production, and performance.
- Direct and produce grade-level performances in collaboration with grade level homeroom teachers and our Assistant Head of LS, ensuring all students can participate and showcase their talents.
- Organize and lead rehearsals, guiding students in rehearsal etiquette, discipline, and performance preparation.
- Demonstrate understanding of sound production techniques and equipment to enhance the quality of performances and classroom activities.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in music education, performing arts, or related field; Master's degree preferred.
- Proven experience teaching music and performing arts to PreK through 4th-grade students in a school setting.
- Demonstrated ability to direct and produce performances, managing all aspects of production from casting to stage design.
- Strong communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively with colleagues, students, and parents.
- Creative, flexible, and innovative approach to music education, adapting instruction to meet the diverse needs of students.
- Adept at using technology for instruction, music production, and performances.
