Tennessee National Golf Club is seeking an experienced and energetic Bar Manager/Bartender to join our dynamic F&B team!
Located just minutes from Knoxville, Tennessee National is the premier gated, lakefront community in Loudon. Our Club features a Greg Norman Signature Golf Course, a brand-new 25,000 sq. ft. clubhouse, marina, restaurants and bars, racquet courts, pool, concert venue, hiking trails, and more.
This is a hybrid role where the Bar Manager will also take regular bartender shifts, offering a unique opportunity to lead while still being active on the floor—and eligible to earn gratuities.
Compensation:
- $18-$20/hour for Bar Manager responsibilities
- $8-$11/hour gratuities for Bartender shifts
- Estimated annual income: $60-$65K

Job purpose
The Bar Manager will promote and grow the business, hire and train waitstaff, and ensure that patrons are receiving excellent drinks, food, and service. You will also manage inventory and resources, plan promotional events, ensure that quality and safety controls are followed, maintain current licenses and update vendor contracts, create schedules, and set business objectives to increase profits and maximize customer satisfaction. You should also be able to work with diverse personalities and diffuse tense situations.
To succeed as a Bar Manager, you should be observant and have the ability to think critically and efficiently. You should be a skilled communicator with excellent problem solving, observation, and interpersonal skills.
Duties and responsibilities
- Manage the business aspects of the bar, such as keeping a current liquor license, negotiating supplier contracts, taking inventory and reordering supplies, managing budgets, and setting goals.
- Hiring and training staff to provide excellent service to patrons.
- Creating effective schedules and quickly resolving conflicts to ensure that bar is well staffed during peak hours.
- Setting and enforcing quality and safety controls.
- Ensuring licenses are updated and in line with current legislation.
- Working with diverse personalities both on the staff and patrons.
- Planning and taking part in promotional events.
- Diffusing tense situations between patrons or staff members to prevent possible safety or legal issues, ejecting unruly persons, if needed.
- Maintaining a fun, safe atmosphere for patrons.
Qualifications
- High School Diploma.
- Restaurant or management experience or more education is generally preferred.
- Strong understanding of business management and accounting principles.
- Excellent computer, problem-solving, and customer service skills.
- Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to diffuse tense situations and resolve conflicts.
- Willingness to work during peak hours, including nights, weekends, and holidays.
- Effectively delegate responsibilities and maximize resources.
- Decisiveness.
- Ability to walk, stand, and occasionally carry heavy items in a fast-paced, stressful environment.
Working conditions
Work is primarily indoors with some outdoor exposure. Potential exposure to sharp and rapid equipment movement, sharp utensils, harmful chemicals and/or being exposed to flying golf balls.

Physical requirements
Good organizational and verbal skills. Ability to use logical and rational thinking to resolve issues. Ability to perform basic mathematical skills, monitors and develops subordinates, visually monitor the operation areas, write and read member communication.
Must have the ability to perform moderate physical work and may be required to lift up to 40 lbs., up to 30 lbs. frequently and up to 20 lbs. constantly. Perform activities such as bending, kneeling, crouching, climbing, reaching, standing, pushing, lifting and grasping for up to 5 hours without sitting. Ability to consistently lift, carry and load equipment that may weigh 40 or more pounds, and sustain aerobic activity for 20 consecutive minutes.
Please be advised that all work that requires the use of a ladder more than 8 ft. long must be reviewed by Hampton Golf’s Club Maintenance person. Following an assessment of the situation, a determination will be made as to whether a maintenance team member or subcontractors will perform the necessary maintenance task. No other staff member is authorized to climb to heights exceeding 8 ft. and/or perform such maintenance. In addition, personnel are prohibited from entering facility attics, walking on the roof of buildings and/or from using scaffolding.
