Maintenance Technician
The Maintenance Technician is responsible for ensuring the hotel's physical structure remains in optimal condition through various maintenance tasks. These include carpentry, basic plumbing, minor electrical work, mechanical repairs, and other essential maintenance duties.
The ideal candidate for this role will possess a high school diploma or GED (or a combination of relevant experience and on-the-job training in place of formal education). Previous experience in hotel maintenance is preferred.
Responsibilities
- Perform general repairs, including minor plumbing work on fixtures and systems, such as fixing leaking faucets or repairing sink drains.
- Assist in the management of an ongoing preventive maintenance program for equipment and guest rooms.
- Conduct planned maintenance to extend the life of equipment and avoid downtime, including tasks like lubrication, adjustments, and cleaning.
- Support special maintenance programs as needed.
- Control inventory of maintenance related items and relay any necessary orders to appropriate individual.
- Adhere to safety protocols, including fire safety procedures, emergency action plans, and proper use of fire control systems, alarms, and extinguishers.
Guest and Staff Support Responsibilities:
- Carry out basic painting and repairs on walls, furniture, cabinets, windows, doors, locks, and keys.
- Perform minor electrical and mechanical repairs.
- Handle minor repairs on fans and air conditioning units.
- Complete routine plumbing repairs.
- Perform rough carpentry tasks.
- Maintain the swimming pool during the summer months.
- Mow the grass during the summer season.
- Shovel and salt sidewalks during the winter season.
- Any additional tasks as management team deems essential to hotel.
Educational/Vocational Preparation:
A high school diploma or GED is preferred.
Qualifications:
- Technical training in mechanical and electrical fields is preferred, along with experience in the maintenance of refrigeration, heating and cooling systems, carpentry, and plumbing. On-the-job training can be used as a substitute for formal education or vocational training.
- Obtain or willing to obtain special licensing in relations to pesticides, pool certifications, and CPR.
- Ability to perform light to heavy labor: Lifting, bending, reaching, stretching, pushing, and pulling.
- Ability to frequently lift 75 pounds frequently.
- Ability to communicate in a positive and service oriented manner both orally and in writing to guests and members of the hotel team.
- Flexibility to work a varied schedule, including nights, weekends, and holidays based on demand.
- Maintains a neat, clean, and professional appearance.
