What are the responsibilities and job description for the Assistant Hotel Maintenance Engineer position at Hampton Inn?
1. Reviewing maintenance problems, complaints, and work orders to prioritize and schedule work assignments
2. Monitoring and inspecting assigned work
3. Trouble shooting, diagnosing and repairing malfunctioning electrical/mechanical systems and equipment
4. Inspecting property to identify potential and current needs
5. Planning and executing on-going appropriate maintenance programs
6. Estimating department expenditures for budget purposes and assisting with capital budget process
7. Soliciting bids from contractors, evaluating their proposals and , once contracted, ensuring work is completed to specifications
8. Coordinating with local health, safety, fire and building inspectors to ensure compliance with all applicable codes and regulations
9. Performing preventative maintenance assignments on a scheduled basis
10. Servicing the hotel’s pool, including adjusting chemicals and cleaning filters
11. Completing maintenance logs and updating all vendor/contractor files
12. Maintaining the building exterior if not serviced by a contractor (e.g. snow removal, lawn care, painting)
13. Maintaining a passing score on the Quality Oil maintenance and security audit
14. Maintaining Hampton service and product standards
15. Recruiting, selecting and training a skilled and motivated work force
16. Listening and responding to guests’ requests and/or complaints
17. Coordinates and maintains effective relations with other departments in the hotel to promote excellent guest service.
18. Is aware of all departments’ roles and responsibilities. Coordinates with other departments on joint tasks as they relate to maintenance, particularly housekeeping and the front office.
19. Attends and participates in weekly staff meeting, insuring all other departments are aware of hotel maintenance issues
