Your day to day as a Therapist I, Juvenile Justice Services
As a Full-Time Therapist I for Juvenile Justice Services with the Hampton-Newport News Community Services Board, you'll manage a predetermined caseload in an outpatient setting, focusing on the assessment and evaluation of incoming clients. Your role will involve providing essential individual, group, and family counseling, as well as educational sessions and comprehensive discharge and aftercare planning. You'll deliver critical mental health and substance use screenings, short-term therapeutic interventions, and crisis intervention for youth facing challenges before the Hampton and Newport News Juvenile and Domestic Relations Courts. Additionally, you'll serve adolescents in the community or those in Newport News Secure Detention, offering intensive substance use programming tailored to both youth and their families. Your impactful work will directly affect the progress of clients in treatment, while you also develop individualized treatment plans, behavioral contracts, and actively participate in legal proceedings by attending and testifying at hearings.
